The first supercomputer is from AMD’s ‘Epyc’ range of processors. This supercomputer will be available from December 5 and will be beneficial to businesses that involve sustainability research and development (R& D), real-time automotive safety, drug research in pharmaceuticals, and real-time decision-making in the financial sector. The second lineup of supercomputers- ‘CRAY’ will compete with offerings from Nvidia, Dell, and IBM to offer supercomputing power to data centers. Several industry reports have already stated the rising need for supercomputers among companies across the globe. According to a report from ReportLinker (US-based AI and computing sector market researcher), the global enterprise supercomputer market is estimated to have a value of over $21 billion by 2026 with a growth rate of 19.1% annually. That said, HPE’s both Cray EX and Cray XD supercomputers are likely to capture a share of this growth. Additionally, the company has revealed a software platform to help companies train proprietary ML algorithms based on their business requirements. Known as the Machine Learning Development Environment, the company claims that the software platform can reduce the training time required for such ML algorithms. Moreover, these supercomputers are compatible with both Intel’s Xeon and AMD’s Epyc range of processors. Chief product officer for high-performance computing, AI, and labs at HPE, Trish Damkroger said that the latest products are in line with the new frontier of the exascale era which involves a huge amount of data growth and requires advanced modeling, simulation analytics, and AI-at-scale capabilities to provide outcomes and accelerate innovation.
