Bansal in a recent episode was recorded saying, “Ek advice hai, CA se durr raho” ( piece of advice, stay away from Chartered accountants). This statement not only offended CAs, but also several other viewers. Following this, a petition was started against Bansal on Change.org which was supported by around 19.5k people. The viewers wanted him to leave Shark Tank India after the comments were passed. The petition read, ‘No one can make a mockery of professionals on National Television just for the sake of looking cool! Such people with loose talks should correct his generic comments for CAs/ be banned from Shark Tank India’. However, Peyush Bansal was sorry for his offensive comments. He even apologized to everyone through a tweet. The tweet was captioned as “A message from the heart”. In the tweet he said that he didn’t make those comments intentionally, his own sister who is also a co-founder of Lenskart is a CA. He also mentioned that he himself respect this CA profession and he can’t even run a day without the help of a CA. Along with this, he asked the viewers to enjoy the show and ended the tweet saying “Learning to be a shark”. Everyone had different reactions after Bansal apologized. Some people accepted his apology, some claimed that he fell prey to the cancel culture. Others even stated that before making a petition on should listen to the whole conversation rather than choosing some words to make an issue out of it. This is not for the first time that something of this sort has happened in Shark Tank India. The show has been into controversies since it aired.
