Scott Thompson, who was recently fired from his post of CEO at Yahoo has got himself a new job at ShopRunner. Thompson will join ShopRunner as CEO, an online company that provides service of two-day shipping from a variety of Internet retailers. The news of Thompson’s appointment came on Monday, two months after he was shoved out of Yahoo. Yahoo took this decision on realizing that Thompson has misinformed them by filing wrong information on his bio-data. He had mentioned of a bachelor’s degree in computer science which he has never received. Yahoo then raised questions on Thompson’s integrity and took his job from him. However, ShopRunner has no issues about the Thompson lying in his bio-data at Yahoo. As a matter of fact the company see him as “the perfect long-term CEO.” In his new job, Thompson will be responsible for running a privately held company that is just two years old and still trying to establish itself in the market. No doubt that Thompson has earned himself a good position at ShopRunner but he will not be able to enjoy benefits that he was getting at Yahoo. While at Yahoo he was being paid $1 million salary with an annual bonus of up to $2 million. On his new job Thompson stated, “Joining ShopRunner is a tremendous opportunity to build on the strong foundation that the company has already established.” ShopRunner is a small company that is a part of Kynetic owned by GSI founder Michael Rubin. Kynetic also controls two other e-commerce services, Fanatics and Rue La La. ShopRunner attracts people by giving them assurance of two day shipping for online purchases. The company charges its subscribers an annual fee of $79. Retail companies such as Toys R Us, GNC, Petsmart, Sports Authority, Lord & Taylor and AutoZone make use of ShopRunner’s services.
