How to connect Airpods to Macbook?

If you haven’t connected the Airpods to your iPhone, you can connect them directly to your Macbook.

Let your Airpods remain in their charging case. Open the lid carefully without taking out the Airpods.Long-press the button at the back of the case until the status light turns on.Switch on Macbook and click the Apple menu. Next, tap on the System Preferences.Under System Preferences, find “Bluetooth” and click on it.

Find Airpods(you want to pair with your Macbook) under the list of devices and click on “Connect”.Once the connection is complete, you will see the Airpods at the top of the Devices list. You can then start using it.

If these steps don’t work, you’ll have to look into a couple of issues and resolve them. Firstly, ensure your Mac is up to date. To install the first-generation Airpods, you will need macOS Sierra or later versions. For second generations Airpods, you will need macOS 10.14.4 or later versions. If you can see the Airpods in your Bluetooth devices list but won’t connect, we recommend you remove them from the list first and pair them with your MacBook again. To do that, first, find the Airpods in the Bluetooth list and click on the ‘x’ next to it. Next, complete the pairing process. If nothing works, try resetting your Airpods. To reset, long-press the button on the back of the Airpods case for at least 15 seconds. Release the button once the status light turns on.

If you already use them on your iPhone

The Airpods are designed to connect to MacBook automatically if it is using the same Apple ID as your iPhone.

Open the Airpods caseNext, click the Volume icon (looks like a speaker) in the menu bar on your MacBook.Next, select your Airpods in the “Output Device” section of this menu.

If these steps don’t work, you need to check a couple of settings. First, click on the Apple icon in the menu bar and then click on ‘System Preferences.

Make sure the Mac has the same Apple ID as your iPhone. Under the System Preference, click “Apple ID” to make sure you’re logged in and using the same ID.Switch on the Handoff. To do so, click “General” in the System Preferences window and checkmark next to “Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices.”If the volume icon does not appear in the menu bar, you will have to turn it on. Click “Sound” in the System Preference window and then tick on the check box next to “Show volume in the menu bar.”
